2012 was as an eventful year for the analytics market with nearly 72 percent of businesses in the U.S. increasing their spending on analytics, which resulted in a large supply gap at all levels of data analytics talent. Due to this, companies were reluctant to offshore their business to emerging economies such as India, China or Brazil. It was also the time when 80 percent of all top analytics executives in India quoted 'lack of analytics talent' as their biggest challenge. This was an opportunity for professional training institutes in the country to attract fresh graduates and working professionals to dive into the analytics market. While many reputed and budding institutes had to eventually shut down their analytics training wing due to lack of quality and demand, ExcelR, a consulting and management training, survived to achieve a growth that majority in this sector could not touch.

Since its inception in 2012, ExcelR has trained more than 10,000 students in analytics. While they attract over 2400 students a year only for this particular segment of training, Bharani Kumar, Co-Founder, ExcelR says, "It is the quality of our trainings and our post training support that make us different from other players. Here we have empanelled a good number of faculties with more than 20 years of experience, who can bring their experience to the training table." Including visiting faculties, ExcelR has more than 35 professionals from various walks of life who can impart tool based training in analytics along with theoretical knowledge of the same. As the top management of ExcelR are from IIMs and ISB, two prestigious brands of business school in the country, a similar background in their trainer's qualifications can be noted, which is also an added advantage for the learners.

However, Bharani Kumar, a leader of this industry with more than 13 years of experience knows that classroom trainings alone cannot make market ready candidates. Hence, as a post training support, they provide internships, where enrolled candidates can work in the real-time projects and get the much needed hands-on-experience and industrial knowledge. This has also helped the institute provide more placement opportunities for the trainees, as the demand for candidates with industry knowledge is huge. While the internships act as practice ground for individual trainees, the institute provides tailor made learning solutions for companies that are approaching them for mass training. "Companies approach us with different demands. Some may be lacking in the practical knowledge of analytics while possessing the theoretical base or vice versa. We understand their requirements to create training modules accordingly," explains Bharani Kumar. Today, ExcelR has established its presence in 34 countries with the help of quality training provided by highly experienced trainers, works relentlessly toward making market ready professionals in the domain of analytics, and is evidently not far away from creating a monopoly in the Indian analytics training market.
