Established in 1969, Christ University was initially founded as a constituent college of Bangalore University to provide college education to the seminarians. However, due to the quality of training and infrastructure, many students from outside started showing interest in joining the college. Ranked 1st Best in BBA and BCA courses, 3rd best College in India for pure Sciences and Journalism ,4th best College for Commerce and Arts; 12th best in Law by India Today as on July 18, 2015, the university offers UG programs in Economics, Psychology, English, Journalism, Business Administration and a PG program in tourism and travel management.

The Entrepreneurship Cell of Christ University was established to encourage entrepreneurial spirit among students and the placement cell imparts best placement opportunities to students and also helps the individuals in exploring the new career avenues. This cell develops students professionally by training them towards employability skills such as resume building, group discussion, interview skills, soft skills, personality development and logical reasoning. The recruitment process starts with pre-placement talks which start with the campus recruitment. The university has industry collaboration with Festo, Renault-Nissan and many more organizations and acquires academic collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University-USA, IESEG - France and Sheffield Hallam University-UK to extend expertise of the students.
