This is a specialized and improved branch of mechanical engineering that involves learning about design and construction of airplanes, aircraft and spacecrafts. Aerospace Engineering deals with the design, construction, and study of the science behind the forces and physical properties of aircraft, rockets, flying craft, and spacecraft. Aerospace Engineering is categorized into two branches – Aeronautical Engineering and Astronautical Engineering. Aeronautical Engineering specializes in aircrafts, missiles and helicopters. On the contrary, Astronautical Engineering includes space shuttles, rockets and space stations. The field also covers their aerodynamic characteristics and behaviors, airfoil, control surfaces, lift, drag, and other properties. This course needs a good understanding of basic mathematics and physics because lot of fundamental principles from physics and mathematics are extensively applied in flight technology. This course will teach a student the basic principles of flight engineering with few individual experiments. Aerospace Engineers are generally appointed as Consultants, Thermal Design Engineers, Mechanical Design Engineers, Aerospace Technologist, Aircraft Production Manager, Assistant Technical Officers, Aerospace Design Checker and Graduate Engineer Trainees. An Aerospace Engineer can work in private or public companies. The degree holders are acquired by many big firms both in India and abroad. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited are companies that aspire to recruit Aerospace Engineers.
