Xiaomi Mi 5s: A Strong Competitor for iPhone 7!

BENGALURU: The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi introduced its latest flagship models- the Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus, with advanced features that even the iPhones are short of. The Chinese giant appears to have taken a cue from Apple in terms of marketing, as well as it has opted to start sales soon. After creating a wave in the market with the recent versions, the new Xiaomi Mi 5s, and 5S Plus are already reported to have more than 3 million active bookings by now.

The new Xiaomi Mi series are powered by the latest Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 chipset coupled with 4 GB or 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, offering improved computational performance and speedy tri-band 4G carrier aggregations. The phone comes with 64GB or 128GB of fast UFS 2.0 storage plus and dual SIM support. The series also houses a 13MP, f/2.2 dual lens camera with dual sensors- one taking color photos while the other is black and white. The camera also hosts dual-tone LED flash, phase detection auto-focus, auto HDR and video recording of up to 4K resolution at 30 fps. The new Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in the device is hidden away underneath the front panel with a little dent to help guide fingers to the detection area.

When compared with the iPhones, Xiaomi has the same or a better camera, efficient processors, improved RAM, memory, a display similar to Apple’s 3D touch, integrated fingerprint scanner, all at a much cheaper price than the Apple devices.

While users around the globe are changing their purchase plans from reputed gadgets to efficient gadgets, Apple may have a tough time ahead while they ditch the cheaper iPhone series.
