Toshiba to launch its tablet 'Thrive' in July


Bangalore: Toshiba has entered into the tablet market with their new tablet 'Thrive'. The product will be available for pre sale on June 13, and by July 10 it will be available in stores in U.S. Thrive runs on Google's Honeycomb version of the Android platform. User can pre order the device at retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon.com and other electronic retailers. The 10 inch product has 2MP front-facing camera and a 5MP rear-facing camera. It has the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Thrive also has a removable battery which gives about seven hours. It includes optional accessories like a dock with multiple HDMI outputs. It has a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and SD card reader. The price of the tablet varies with the different storage capacity. The 8 GB WiFi only version comes with 19,305 ($429). For the 16 GB model users have to pay 21,555 ($479) and 26,055 ($579) respectively. Toshiba is not the only company to bring out the Android based tablet, but other companies like Acer and Asus also offer the Android based tablet with lower price than this. But this is Toshiba's first Tablet for U.S market.
