Sony Unveils PlayStation VR2 Headset in India
Sony is set to introduce its second-generation Virtual Reality headset, the PlayStation VR2, to the Indian market nearly a year after its global debut. The new headset boasts a 4K HDR resolution (2000×2040 per eye) and features an OLED screen with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate.
Like its predecessor, the PS VR2 includes an adjustable headset band to customize the fit, allowing users to position the headset closer or farther from their face. Sony has also introduced enhancements such as a new lens adjustment dial, vibration feedback, and advanced haptics for the controllers.
Moreover, the company added a new lens adjustment dial for comfortable viewing and a 110-degree field of view, foveated rendering, an eye-tracking technology that can help reduce the rendering workload by slightly reducing the quality of images outside the wearer’s view.
Equipped with four tracking cameras, the PS VR2 offers a passthrough mode allowing users to observe their surroundings. However, in contrast to Meta's standalone headset, it necessitates a PlayStation 5 connection through a USB Type-C port.
Available for purchase via e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Reliance Digital, Croma and ShopAtSC, the PlayStation  VR2 can be purchased for Rs 57,990, which is more than the PlayStation 5 itself. Interested gamers can also opt for the Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle, which comes with a copy of the latest VR Game in addition to the headset. It is priced at Rs 61,999.
