Seagate's world's slimmest external hard drive in India


New Delhi: Seagate, one of the world's largest manufacturers of hard drives has announced the launch of its innovative 'GoFlex Slim' portable hard drive in India. A 2.5-inch and 9mm external drive features a sleek, ultra-thin anodized design which is elegantly designed for the latest trend of portable, thin, stylish laptops and netbooks. SeaGate has considered 'GoFlex Slim' as the world's slimmest and high performance portable hard drive. The hard drive is designed in a slim manner like that of the thickness of a pencil. GoFlex can be conveniently paired with portable devices like the netbook and the notebook. The GoFlex Slim portable drive can be slid effortlessly into a pocket, purse or messenger bag. It operates with Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit) operating systems. This device also enables a person to take his/her data on-the-go by resisting against the damage during transport. GOflex sports other features like the fast 7200 RPM internal drive and USB 3.0 plug-and-play connectivity upto 10x faster transfer speed. It includes backup software with powerful encryption technology which results in the protection of the files. The capacity of the drive is 320 GB. Similarly, Goflex also makes it easy for a person to sync files from the computer which consists of the latest files on-the-go. It enables in the restoring of the previous file versions from the backup with ease. It works with both Mac and PC computers. The GoFlex was first showcased at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics show in January 2011. And is now available at select retail outlets through the Seagate distribution channels. The GoFlex Slim drive can be purchased for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 4,500 with 3-year limited warranty. Apparently, GoFlex Slim also has competitors in its line like the Hitachi G-Drive Slim, a 2.5-inch external hard drive billed as the 'thinnest hard drive in the world.' G-Drive Slim offers 320GB of storage in a compact, sleek form and is available at all Apple stores. Another competitor would be the Microsoft's Xbox 360 Slim hard drive with 250GB.This device provides 50GB drive for your system at GameStop.
