Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold Breaks New Ground with Triple-Hinge Design
- Samsung launches its first trifold smartphone ahead of Apple’s foldable debut.
- Galaxy Z TriFold expands into a 10-inch tablet and supports advanced multitasking.
- Device features upgraded durability, Galaxy AI tools, and debut price of 3.59 Million won in Korea.
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first triple-hinge smartphone, marking a major move in the foldable device market. The launch comes months before Apple is expected to reveal its first folding iPhone. Samsung will release the TriFold in South Korea on December 12 at 3.59 million won (about $2,450) and plans to bring it to the U.S. and other global markets soon.
The Galaxy Z TriFold stands out with two hinges, allowing it to open into a 10-inch tablet-like display, larger than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. When closed, it resembles a standard smartphone. When fully open, users can run three different apps at once across its segmented screens.
Samsung has enhanced its DeX software for the TriFold, letting users run a desktop-like interface directly on the device without an external monitor. In this mode, the phone can support up to four workspaces, each capable of handling multiple apps.
Facing competition from Huawei’s Mate XT series, Samsung highlights stronger Android compatibility and a different inward-folding hinge design. The company has strengthened the aluminum frame and internal components to address durability concerns. Buyers will also get a one-time 50% discount on display repair.

The TriFold includes Samsung’s full suite of Galaxy AI features, such as Generative Edit, Photo Assist and Writing Assist. It also comes with a 6-month Google AI Pro trial. Packed with a 5,600 mAh battery, the largest in Samsung’s foldable lineup, the phone supports up to 17 hours of video playback when fully open.
Samsung expects the TriFold to push the foldables category forward, even as sales remain modest compared to standard flagship phones.
