South Korea: Samsung is set to launch its Galaxy Tab 8.9 inch at CTIA Wireless Event 2011 by 22nd March, 2011 in Florida. Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be the third entrant into Samsung Galaxy Tab family.
Facebook page of Samsung Mobile announced that surprises will be introduced during the "Unpacked" event that the company will hold on the 22nd of March. An image of a tablet along with some text which asked about the reader's Tab life was included in the announcement. The image was also labeled '78910'. Here 7 obviously stand for the 7-inch Galaxy Tab, while 10 stands for Galaxy Tab 10.1 that was recently unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona a week ago.
The Samsung Unpacked Mobile 2011 landing page has a tablet that carries the same background as the one in Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet press images running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, so the possibility is there that Samsung will introduce an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab with Android 3.0 Honeycomb running on it. Samsung has used dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC processor for 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, while the 7-inch Galaxy Tab uses 1GHz Hummingbird CPU. So the Galaxy Tab 8.9 may use the new Exyonos family of Mobile processors.
If a new Samsung Galaxy tab will be unveiled, it might be the rival of the Optimus Pad of LG which was introduced by the company during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The reported Samsung Galaxy tab will have the same screen size as the Optimus Pad of LG. Pricing of the product is yet to be known.
