Walking Robot 'ASIMO'

As a new challenge in mobility the development of a two-legged humanoid robot that can walk- ASIMO, was created by the Honda Motor Company. Standing at 4 feet 3 inches and weighing 119 pounds, the robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run on two feet at a speed up to 3.7 mph. ASIMO is the first humanoid robot in the world that can walk independently.

In addition to ASIMO's ability to walk, it can also understand preprogrammed gestures and spoken commands, recognize voices and faces and interface with IC Communication cards.
