Reliance adds dual mode Coolpad phones in store
Bangalore: Reliance Webstore and Coolpad Communications will introduce Coolpad smartphones in the Indian smartphone market. The companies have launched the Coolpad dual mode smartphone Coolpad 2938 in Karnataka. The phone is priced at $ 237.601, and will leverage Reliance's nationwide network, reports TMCnet. Coolpad Communications is an Indian joint venture of Hong Kong listed China Wireless Technology. The Coolpad 2938 dual mode smartphone will be retailed through Reliance World and Reliance Mobile Stores. Coolpad Communication expects that the smartphone will contribute over 30 percent of Reliance Webstore's handsets sales in Karnataka. The Coolpad 2938 is a touchscreen smartphone supporting both CDMA and GSM connections, and also has two labeled SIM card slots. The smartphone' GSM SIM is tri-band, while CDMA supports 800 MHz. Two separate calling keys have been provided for GSM and CDMA, allowing the users to choose the network, as both the networks can function at the same time. The touchscreen supports handwriting recognition along with the traditional onscreen keyboard for typing messages. A 2.0 megapixel camera, FM radio and a music player supporting MP3/AAC/AMR/MIDI/MMF/WAV /3GP file formats are also provided with the phone. The phone also has Bluetooth and GPRS connectivity. The phone marks Coolpad's venture into the Indian smartphone market, and also marks the diversification of Reliance Webstore into open market handset retailing business. Coolpad Communications will launch four new handsets over the next three months in Karnataka.
