OnePlus has officially announced that its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12, will be released with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The company has also confirmed that the new model will come with an upgraded camera and feature Sony's LYTIA sensor, a new pixel-stacked sensor, which boasts better picture quality.
Sony recently unveiled a new stacked CMOS sensor that makes use of 2-layer transistor pixel technology. This innovative technology comprises separate layers for the photodiode and transistor layers, which enables larger photodiodes and improved light capture. Sony has partnered with OnePlus to integrate the Sony LYT-T808 LYTIA image sensor, equipped with dual-layer transistor pixel technology, into the OnePlus Open foldable phone. Moreover, the upcoming OnePlus 12 will also come with the same LYT-T808 sensor but with an enhanced resolution of 50MP, compared to the 48MP in the OnePlus Open.
Oppo and Vivo, both of which are owned by BBK, have partnered with Sony's Lytia and are expected to use the same dual-layer stacked sensors in their upcoming Find X6 and Vivo X100 smartphones for their primary cameras. OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming smartphone will feature a 2K "X1 (Oriental) Screen" from BOE, with a brightness of up to 2600 nits. Additionally, the smartphone will also be equipped with OPPO's first-generation self-developed image quality engine Display P1 chip.
The upcoming smartphone will feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with a Kryo CPU that has five gold cores and a new 1-5-2 microarchitecture. This advanced chipset delivers a 30% boost in performance and 20% greater power efficiency. Additionally, the Adreno GPU offers 25% better performance and power efficiency. The chipset also supports Wi-Fi 7 and dual Bluetooth connectivity with FastConnect 7800. The smartphone is expected to be available with up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage space. Moreover, it will come with a 5400mAh battery that supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging, making it a highly efficient and powerful device.
