Motorola Hints at Laptop Launch with New Teaser
China's Lenovo-owned phone brand Motorola is said to be gearing up to increase its product lineup in India with the launch of the laptop series. According to a report by 91Mobiles, the company has officially announced the launch of new laptops through a teaser image on the online retail platform Flipkart. But Motorola has not announced any specific information regarding its new products, such as the timeline for the launch.
The preview image, which apparently has been released on Flipkart, contains the Motorola logo, laptop outline along with the caption ‘A BOLD NEW WORLD OF LAPTOPS. UNVEILING SOON’.
Motorola's parent company, Lenovo, already has a wide lineup of laptops such as ThinkPad, IdeaPad, Yoga and Legion series in the nation. Therefore, there are chances that the expected Motorola laptops will have some common specifications with an already available Lenovo laptop. Further, 91Mobiles mentioned that Motorola is expected to tie up with Dixon, the manufacturing partner of Lenovo, to produce its laptops for the region.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Lenovo recently confirmed plans for launching entry-level AI PCs in India. Motorola branded laptops may be used for that purpose by the company.
This won't be the first time that Motorola has produced a laptop in its name. In the mid 2000s, Motorola released the ML900 (HK1337A) rugged laptop with MIL-STD 810F rugged standards. It had a 13.3-inch XGA touch screen, was powered by Intel Pentium M processor along with 1GB RAM and 80GB HDD storage. More recently, in 2011, Motorola also released a Lapdock add-on for its Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone, with a laptop-like keyboard and screen.
