Bangalore: With the news of Android tablets being launched by every second company, LG is not to be left out. Since Apple's iPad was launched, many manufacturers announced that tablet PCs are in the offing. So it is of little surprise that LG has announced that it is working on an Android-based tablet.
The announcement of LG's Android-based tablet came alongside the launch of its two new phones- the LG Optimus Chic and LG Optimus One. LG plans to release its Android-based tablet in the fourth quarter of the year, in time for Christmas.
It also added that both its new phones-LG Optimus Chic and LG Optimus One- will support Android 2.2.
Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications said about the new handsets, "The LG Optimus Series is aimed at challenging the notion that one device can meet the needs of many. At LG, we believe in providing people with many different choices because our customers are not all alike. We want to provide devices that suit all needs and simplify people's lives."
Coming to the topic of LG Android tablet, LG brags that it "will deliver vastly superior performance than other similar devices currently on the market while still managing to be thinner and lighter than competing devices."
Now it remains to be seen if it delivers what it claims. All we can say is wait till Christmas and see for yourself!
