Infinix Smart 8 Launches in India with MediaTek Helio G36 SoC

The Infinix Smart 8 has made its debut in India after being first introduced in Nigeria in November 2023. The Indian model mirrors the specifications and features of its Nigerian counterpart, featuring an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC and a robust 5,000mAh battery. Running on Android 13 Go Edition-based UI, the phone boasts a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup and includes the innovative Magic Ring feature. It is offered in the country with a sole storage variant and is available in four different color options.

The Infinix Smart 8 is presented in a unified RAM and storage setup of 4GB + 64GB, with a price tag of Rs 7,499 in India. As part of its launch promotion, the phone can be acquired at a special discounted rate of Rs 6,749, exclusively on Flipkart. The device is offered in four distinct color choices: Galaxy White, Rainbow Blue, Shiny Gold, and Timber Black. The Infinix Smart 8 features a 6.6-inch HD+ (1,612 x 720 pixels) IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, a peak brightness of 500 nits and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. The handset is powered by a 12nm octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 chipset paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 onboard storage. The RAM can be virtually expanded to up to 8GB, while the storage can be extended via a microSD card to up to 2TB. It ships with Android 13 Go Edition-based XOS 13.

In the camera department, the Infinix Smart 8 is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor paired with an AI-supported lens of unspecified specifications, along with a quad-LED Ring flash. The front-facing camera features an 8-megapixel sensor and is complemented by an LED flash unit. Notably, the device incorporates the Magic Ring feature, reminiscent of Apple's Dynamic Island, displaying notifications, alerts, battery status, and more. The Magic Ring is visible around the cutout for the front camera.

The Infinix Smart 8 is powered by a robust 5,000mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, the device provides dual 4G support, and nano SIM compatibility, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C options. Security features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone has a weight of 189g and dimensions of 163.6mm x 75.6mm x 8.5mm.
