iPad Mini 2 Coming with Retina Display

Bangalore: Apple recently released the much awaited iPad Mini and now the company has already started working on the updated version of iPad Mini which could features the Retina Display.

Sources in Apple’s supply chain apparently said that, AU Optronics, the company that currently supplies iPad Mini display panel, is working on a new 2048 X 1536 Retina Display for the next iPad Mini, reports DNA.

Mashable has also quoted sources as saying that Apple will be using the Sharp’s IGZO (Indium gallium zinc oxide) technology in the second generation iPad Mini.

The IGZO is a semiconducting material which can be used for a transparent thin-film transistor. It replaces amorphous silicon for the active layer of an LCD screen and with a forty times higher electron mobility than amorphous silicon. It also allows either smaller pixels (for screen resolutions higher than HDTV) or much higher reaction speed for a screen. In shot this technology will allow the next iPad Mini’s display to be thinner and more power efficient with excellent color and brightness.

If all the rumors are to be believed that the iPad Mini 2 might be launched in the coming year. The iPad Mini is now available for pre-order in India
