Bangalore: The latest offering from HTC to the Indian consumer is the Desire smartphone. HTC has a tie up with Tata DoCoMo for releasing the phone in India. HTC Desire is available at all the authorized HTC resellers across the country at a price of

The smartphone has won 'Best of Show' honors at the Mobile World Congress in February this year. It comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED display screen and runs on 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The HTC Desire runs on the Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform with HTC Sense UI and may get an update of Froyo soon.
Desire has 576MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. It records video at WVGA resolution (800*480) at 15 fps. It also comes with an optical track pad and physical buttons and features FM radio and a 5MP camera. The camera comes with face detection capability, auto focus and flash, widescreen photo capture and geotagging.
The smartphone's memory can be expanded to 32 GB with the help of a microSD memory card. Its connectivity options include Bluetooth, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, standard micro-USB, and a 3.5mm stereo audio jack.
HTC Desire comes with a 1400 mAh battery which gives a talk time of up to 390 minutes on WCDMA and up to 400 minutes on GSM. It incorporates social networking sites and has Facebook integrated on it and allows photo sharing on Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.
The Tata DoCoMo users (post paid) are being given an exclusive offer which will allow them to download 500 MB of data per month for free, for a period of 6 months.
