HP adds Envy 14 Beats and Envy 17 3D to its portfolio

Bangalore: Hewlett Packard (HP) has extended its notebook range with the addition of two new Envy edition notebooks. The new releases comprise of Envy 17 3D and Envy 14 (Beats edition). Envy 17 3D holds the distinction of being HP's first real 3D notebook.
The Envy 14 runs on Windows 7 operating system and comes with Symantec Norton Internet Security trial of 60 days. It is preloaded with Microsoft Office 2010. In the hardware section, the device comes with 4GB DDR3 system memory. It uses Intel's Core i5-450M processor 2.66GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53 GHz.
The notebook has ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 s for video graphics. The hard drive capacity is 500GB and connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The new Beats edition comes with the signature logo and includes Beats Solo headphones and red backlit keyboard. The notebook comes with two years warranty.
Next in the line is the Envy 17 3D, which has a 120Hz, 1080p display that works with bundled active shutter glasses to produce a stereoscopic 3D image. It packs in a Blu-ray drive and a new version of MediaSmart app that will play 3D movies.
It is an upgrade of the 2D version, and has a storage capacity of 2TB divided between its two drives. It will ship with quad Core i7 chips and Mobility Radeon HD 5850 video.
While the Envy 14 is retailing in U.S. sometime in the fall, the special edition Envy 17 3D is expected to ship by December.
