Facebook Launching 'App Store' for All Devices, Platforms

Bangalore: Facebook is all set to launch its quality driven app store. Users will be able to browse through apps and review descriptions and ratings before downloading the apps. The Facebook app store will not compete against Google play or iOS. In fact it will bring more traffic to these stores.

Aaron Brady mentioned that Facebook is focusing only on high quality apps. A special metric system of ratings will decide which apps will be featured and which will not. Apps that are not approved can be modified based on Facebook recommendations and then submitted again for review.

Apps will be judged on usage of clear and descriptive names and icons. They will also carry visually compelling banners and screenshots. Apps lacking significant bugs and having clear distinction between ads and content will be approved and their UI should not resemble the Facebook UI in any way.

This step is sure to bring more revenue to developers and also advertisers. The app store will bring more engagement time with users and in turn more accurate recommendations of apps. This means that the ads will be better placed. Also developers can monetize their apps.

The app store will be up and running in a few weeks time. For now Facebook is urging developers to review and submit their data for further approval. It looks like a win-win situation for users and developers alike.
