Dell, LG announce 4G Tablets at CES


Bangalore: The CES, where all things are going tablets, has witnessed two other tablet announcements from Dell and LG. Dell has announced a 7 inch Streak 4G tablet running on Android 2.2, while LG is prepping a 10 inch 4G tablet called G-Slate. The 7 inch Dell Streak will be available in U.S. through T-Mobile but the price has not been declared. It has a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and supports Flash video. Dell is also said to be coming out with a 10 inch tablet and a Android based smartphone - Venue in the future. Dell also announced in the electronics fair that it has plans to launch a tablet based on Windows operating system but believes that the next version of the OS will be more suited to tablets. Dell had launched its 5 inch tablet, also called Streak back in 2010. LG's G-Slate has a 10 inch display screen that will also be carried in the U.S. by T-Mobile. It runs on Google's tablet only Honeycomb operating system and is set to pose a real challenge to tablets running on other Android versions. This includes Samsung's Galaxy Tab as soon the Android based tablets running on versions other than the Honeycomb will be deemed secondary in front of the Android 3.0 devices.
