New Delhi: On the eve of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), Indian War Comics and Datawind launched ‘Frozen Fury: Capt (hony) Bana Singh Param Vir Chakra (PVC), Hero of Siachen’ and ‘Digital Versions of Indian War Comics: Captain Vikram Batra PVC and Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan Ashok Chakra (AC)’ on Ubislate 7+ Tablets.
The print and digital versions of the ‘Frozen Fury: Capt (hony) Bana Singh PVC, Hero of Siachen’ were launched in Delhi by the General V K Singh (Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Aide De Camp, Chief of the Army Staff), Major General (Dr.) G D Bakshi (Sena Medal, Visisht Seva Medal) and Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO of Datawind in the presence of Capt (hony) Bana Singh, and families of martyrs.
“Mr. Suneet Singh Tuli said, “We are proud to be associated with this venture and include this application created on the lives of great heroes of war, who have served our nation. It will serve to keep alive the great tradition of courage and chivalry to which our nation is heir to. These ancient epics, ballads and war songs that inspire men to battle were all dying out. Now they will live on in a new Digital incarnation.”
Through the medium of these graphic images, Indian War Comics seek to mythologize our modern military heroes: Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and other gallantry award winners of the post independence generation. The aim is to educate and inspire the youth with these tales of heroism, valor and self sacrifice and to revive the old fashioned values of patriotism, of Duty, Honor and Country.
The Vision of Indian War Comics is to create a modern mythology and folklore around our post independence military heroes. If this enters our collective unconscious as a people, it will serve to inspire and uplift. It will serve to revive the time- honored values of patriotism – of duty, honor and country. Digital versions of the comics were launched on the lives of Captain Vikram Batra PVC and Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan Ashok Chakra (AC).The concept of these digital and animated books on war heroes is of Aditya Bakshi, a Chief Officer in the Merchant Navy who said, “This is my humble tribute to the brave military heroes and their courage.”
