AMD to launch HD 6990 on March 8

Bangalore: AMD will launch its dual-GPU Antilles card, the Radeon HD 6990 on March 8. The HD 6990 will replace the HD 5970, which is still one of the fastest graphics card in the market.AMD has also officially released the images of the upcoming HD 6990 series in CeBIT 2011.
This card is physically longer than the other HD 6990 series.It support for 5 displays via a single DVI and four mini-Display Port outputs for Eyefinity. The HD 6990 will consist of two Cayman GPUs on a single PCB.
However, the competitor company of AMD, that is NVIDIA
, is also ready to launch their dual GPU monster, GTX590 in the month of March. The new GTX590 card was also shown at CeBIT 2011. But AMD is planning to launch HD 6990 before NVIDIA launches its new card.
AMD has not yet mentioned about the price of the card, but there are speculations that it will obviously be the priciest, hottest and fastest graphics card in the market, at least until Nvidia introduces the GTX 590.
