All you Need to Know About Smartphone Screens

Now what is Super AMOLED?

Samsung has fixed a ‘Super’ tag to its display to give a superficial effect for their devices. Samsung has three types of AMOLED display: Super AMOLED, Super AMOLED Plus, and HD Super AMOLED. The only difference between these types of display is its subpixels. As there are numerous ways to pattern the subpixels and the Super AMOLED uses pen-tile layout to fix the red, green, blue, green (RG-BG) subpixels.

Samsung Galaxy S II comes with RBG layout pattern of subpixels giving more crisp, smooth and bright images. Now we have ‘HD Super AMOLED’ display in Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Note, and Samsung Galaxy S III. HD Super AMOLED has regular PenTile Super AMOLED display, but with a 1,280x720-pixel resolution.
