Akai enters Indian mobile market with 10 new models


Bangalore: The ever burgeoning mobile handset market in India is all set to welcome a new player in the form of Akai. The Japanese consumer electronics brand announced its foray into the telecom business in India by introducing 10 dual SIM (GSM +GSM) handsets. The devices are priced in the range of 1,895 and 7,995. Among the prime features of the Akai handsets are full touch 3D UI, Wi-Fi, wireless FM with recording, social networking sites access, e-book compatibility and others. Pranay Dhabhai, Managing Director, Akai India said, "The mobile handset market in India is growing rapidly and there is a great demand for quality handsets. With Akai mobiles now being available in India and with our global expertise and understanding of Indian consumer needs, we will be giving a tough time not only to the Indian brand dominating the dual SIM segment, but also the other Multi National brands dominating the Indian mobile Industry." As the present Indian mobile market is hot with the idea of dual SIM mobiles, the company claims that it is the first to introduce a complete range of mobile handsets based on dual SIM platform. The handset models are currently available across stores in India through retail outlets. The mobiles will be sold in India through Global Brands Enterprise Solutions.
