Xiaomi Mi 5 to be launched on March 31 in India
BENGALURU: The Chinese smartphone maker—Xiaomi announced at the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, that their latest flagship Mi 5 will be available in India by April 2016. Keeping up the word, the smartphone maker is all set to launch the smartphone on March 31, 2016 at an event in Delhi, reports Tech radar.
Recently, Xiaomi Mi 5 was launched at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 and soon went on sale in China markets. Observing tremendous response in their home market with over 17 million registrations for the first flash sale, Xiaomi has decided to launch the same in India as well.
The smartphone comes with 5.15-inch 1080p display. It is a dual SIM smartphone that supports 4G LTE. Further it offers Android Marshmallow along with a layer of Xiaomi's MIUI 7. There is a 16MP rear camera which supports 4K video recording and a 4MP selfie camera. 3,000mAh battery that comes with a Quick Charge 3.0. Other features include fingerprint scanner, IR Blaster, USB Type-C port and NFC.
Presently there are 3 variants of Xiaomi Mi 5 in the market — 32GB and 64GB with 3D glass back, and a 128GB variant with a 3D Ceramic body. The 32GB variant of Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered by 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. On the other hand, the 64GB variant comes with a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. The 128GB variant comes with the same chipset but there is 4GB of RAM in tug.
A report says that Xiaomi Mi 5 is likely to be priced between Rs 20,000 to 27,000 in India. If these pricing speculations are to be veracious, then it will indeed be a hostile pricing for this flagship phone and also at par with the price of the phone in the China market.
Possibly Xiaomi will release only the 32GB and 64GB models in India at present. We are expecting that the phone will go on sale in the first week of April on Amazon or Flipkart along with Mi.com.
