Xiaomi Mi 4i vs Mi4: Comparisons


BENGALURU: One of the biggest Chinese Smartphone makers, Xiaomi, recently launched Mi4i in India. We look at the difference between Xiaomi’s widely sold Mi4i and Mi4 based on their design, display, processor, storage, camera, OS, battery and price, as compiled by Gizbot.

Design and Display

Both, Mi4 and Mi4i comes with 5-inch screen along with a crisp 441-ppi. They come with Full HD (1920x1080p) resolution, however, there is a big difference between the price of Xiaomi Mi4 and the most recent Mi4i.

Processor and Storage

Mi4i sports 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz. The high-end, Mi4, comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset along with 2.5GHz quad-core processor. Mi4i as well as Mi4, both have 16GB Internal memory. Mi4i is a 2GB RAM Smartphone, whereas Mi4 comes with a massive 3GB RAM.

Camera and Battery

Xiaomi Mi4i and Mi4, both have 13-megapixel rear camera. Mi4i has 5-megapixels front-facing camera and Mi4 sports 8-megapixels front-facing camera. The rear camera allows Full HD video recording and has a 80-degree wide-angle lens.

Android 5.0.2 comes pre-installed in the latest Mi4i, however, Mi4 comes with an older version of Android 4.4 but on top of that resides MIUI 6, which is Xiaomi’s own fork based on Android. Both the Smartphones share a small difference in the batteries, with Mi4 sporting 3080mAh battery and Mi4i coming with 3120mAh battery.

Price and Conclusion

Xiaomi Mi4i is a recent 2015 launch and it comes with a price tag of 12,999. Mi4 was launched in 2014 and it comes with a price tag of 17,999. Both the price represents a significant change in price and Specification. While 2GB RAM performs better for most applications, but a 3GB RAM is guaranteed smooth performance even for those Android versions, which will be launched in the future.
