World's Lightest Ultrabook 'Lavie Z' Weighs 875 Grams


Bangalore: Ultrabooks are slowly making their way into the laptop segment. These evolved form of laptops are becoming thinner and lighter by every day.  Now the NEC personal computers have showcased a new ultrabook called ‘Lavie Z’. The company claims that the Lavie Z is the world’s lightest ultrabook till date.

The Lavie Z weighs just 875 grams which is amazingly lightweight for laptop. The device sports 13.3 inch display with 1600x900 pixels of screen resolution and the company also claims that the battery will charge upto 80 percent in just one hour.

It comes in two variants, the first one with Intel Core i7 - 3517U processor and 256 GB of SSD storage and the other one with Intel Core i5 – 3317U processor and 128 GB of SSD storage. Both the models will come with 4 GB of RAM and other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a webcam.

To make the device lighter the company adopted lithium magnesium alloy casing which makes the ultrabook lightweight. The device is not only lightweight but also incredibly thin as well, at the thickest part it measures just 14.9 mm. The ultrabook will be launched on August 23, but the pricing and the availability in the stores is not disclosed yet.
