Wishtel Android Tablets: Cheap, Support 23 Languages


Bangalore: Low-cost tablet rain season in Indian now, one more entrant has emerged into this flourishing market. Wishtel, a Mumbai based company has launched two new cheap Android tablets-Ira and Ira Thing-for 4,000 and 5,500 respectively.

The Ira tablet is engineered with a Taiwanese chipmaker VIA Technology's 800 MHz processor and runs on Android 2.2. This tablet sports TFT LCD 7 inch resistive touchscreen, 256 MB RAM, 2GB of storage, 2800 mAh battery, 3.5 mm audio jack and supports Wi-Fi and 3G via USB.

The costlier version ‘Ira Thing’ comes with a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen and all other specification remains same as that of ‘Ira’ tablet. Both the tablets will supports 23 Indian languages, this unique feature is supposed to bring more fortune for the company when compared to other low-cost tablets in the market. . These two tablets will be distributed with the company’s nationwide network of 350 distributors.

This third entrant into the market after Datawind and BSNL has increased the competition in the booming low-cost tablet market. Present market trends, the price sensitive Indian customers and some research work done by ABI points out that by 2016 low-cost tablet market will be grabbing a market share of 60 percent.
