Western Digital Makes 2TB Sit in your Hand


Bangalore: Western Digital has launched a new addition of My Passport series portable drives. The drive comes in four capacities modes; 500 GB, 750 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. It has a fresh new design and comes in five colors: white, black, silver, blue, and red.

In addition to the new design the drives has a specially designed outer cover which is scratch and fingerprint resistant. The drive features ultra-fast USB 3.0 connectivity and is also compatible with USB 2.0. It comes with WD SmartWare automatic backup software, WD Security for password protection and hardware encryption.

"Our goal in launching the next-generation of the popular My Passport drives is to encourage more consumers to protect their data before something happens," said Jim Welsh, Executive VP and GM of WD's branded products and consumer electronics groups. "The new My Passport makes backing up and preserving one's digital life easier, reliable and more secure than ever - it's the perfect blend of monstrous capacity, reliability and user-friendly technology in a sleek form factor, now in five colors, he further added."

These stylish portable drive cost $129.99 for 500 GB, $149.99 for 750 GB, $179.99 for 1 TB and $249.99 for 2 TB edition. All these drives are currently available in U.S. only; the company will soon launch these drives in India at an expected price of 5599 to 10000.
