BENGALURU: Chinese companies are notorious for making cheap knockoffs of high end products whether it is mobile phones or even luxury cars. Following the trend is Goophone, a Chinese mobile manufacturer which produces inexpensive “clones” of other flagship models, predominantly the iPhones. Goophone made headlines a few years back when they took Apple to court over patent infringement for the design of the iPhone 5 even before the smartphone was launched. Here is a list of some of the other blatant copies that Goophone has made recently.

Samsung Galaxy S7

In 2014, Samsung also faced the wrath of Goophone when the Chinese company made a clone of its then flagship, the Galaxy G5, within 48 hours of the smartphone’s official launch. Now, the company has made a knockoff the G7 called Goophone S7 priced at 8,699. That is about five times cheaper than the original which is priced at 50,000. The smartphone powered by MT 6580 Quad Core processor, sports 8MP front and rear facing cameras with simulated fingerprint/ heart rate/ smart stay/ 4 ways gesture control/ gesture recognition features. There is also a 4G model of this phone that will cost you a few thousand rupees more.
