2. Which Operating System Should You Choose?

There are different operating systems available for tablets such as Apple iOS, Google Android, RIM BlackBerry OS and Microsoft Windows 8. Right now the most popular operating system is iOS by Apple, which is only used for their own products like iPad and iPhone.

Tablets manufactures like Samsung, Asus, Micromax, Toshiba, Acer, Sony, HTC and many more offers tablets based on Google Android operating system. While RIM PlayBook runs on its own OS – BlackBerry OS like Apple products runs on their own operating system.

One more, the Microsoft Windows 8 based tablets. The company introduced the prototype of its own tablet called Surface with Windows 8 operating system but not yet available in the market. Many tablet manufacturers have also showcased Windows 8 based tablet but they are waiting for official launch of the Window 8 operating system which is set to be October 2012.

The price range for the Android tablets starts from the 3000 while the Apple iPad starts from 25,000 and the RIM recently reduced its tablet price for 13,000. It is recommended to buy an Android based tablet as you will get variety of models from innumerable manufactures. But while buying the Android based tablet make sure it should be running recent version of Android operating system. Currently most of the tablets come with Android 3.0 and 4.0 versions. Right now Google Nexus 7 tablet is the only device to run the latest Android version 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The tablet is available for around 11,000 to 12,000 (price may vary)
