The Price War: Nokia Lumia 920 Vs Samsung Galaxy S III

Bangalore: Nokia launched its flagship product the Lumia 920 and its younger sibling 820 in India last week. Nokia Lumia comes with a claim to be the world’s most innovative Smartphone. According to the reports, Nokia is vending this phone sharply against 2012’s most successful Smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S III. We saw a wide range of comparisons between the camera of Galaxy S III and Nokia Lumia 920. Apart from the specifications of the phone, price is a key factor that ascertains the reception of a Smartphone in the market. In terms of price range in India, Samsung Galaxy SIII and Nokia Lumia are closely rivaled as far as flagship devices go. Whereas Apple’s iPhone 5 is much higher in the price ladder, with the lowest 16GB version costing Rs 45,500, it fails with others in terms of price.

According to the Nokia India website, the price of Nokia Lumia 920 is presently Rs 38,199. The handset is available for Rs 36,999 on Flipkart.com on a pre-order basis and will be delivered in the third week of January. Another portal Infibeam has also Nokia Lumia 920 for sale, with a pre-order charge of Rs 5000, without any mention of the full amount. Samsung is also not sitting idle, they are providing Galaxy SIII 16GB version with a competitive Price of Rs 32,540.  In addition to this Samsung, unlike Nokia, provides a support of 32 GB MicroSD card, up to 3GB free Data plans along with Movies and Songs for users who buy the device now. According to the Samsung estore, the device is available in red, pebble and white layout.  

Samsung’s 32GB version of Galaxy SIII prices is slightly higher than the 16GB version which is Rs 35,460 and comes with all the facilities like the 16GB version. According to online retailers, Infibeam and Flipkart Galaxy SIII is available for Rs 31,900 for the 16GB version. Flipkart has a stock of the pebble blue and red colours though there are no offers on free stuffs. In addition to this, Homeshop 18, another online retailer is also selling the phone at the same price.  In terms of price war, Nokia Lumia 920 offers a tough competition to Galaxy SIII, , for users who are ready to leave Android and embrace a Windows Phone. The consumers will surely be benefitted by this competitive price war.
