Sony Unveils PumpX, A Ultra-Compact Wireless Speaker


BENGALURU: Sighting great market potential for personal portable audio, Sony has taken a big stride ahead by launching the Sony PumpX, a ultra-compact wireless device with Bluetooth and NFC support. Although it isn't the first from Sony, but it is the first time the company is going all out in promoting portability, by directly taking on the likes of JBL, DigiFlip, Portronics and other similarly priced Bluetooth speakers, reports NDTV.

In terms of features, the two 10W speakers is powered by 45mm drivers, Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC connectivity, and company claimed battery life of 5 to 12 hours on a full charge and it can be easily charged via USB to keep the music going longer.

In addition to that, the device can also be used as a wireless hands-free unit to make and receive calls, thanks to the in-built microphone. The Audio transmission from a source device is either through Bluetooth or 3.5mm audio-in, while NFC will help do the easy pairing of wireless devices.

The ruggedly built PumpX is added with a frequency response of up to 20 kHz, which can reproduce high notes with the help of the virtual surround sound mode, which is said to give the listener a sense of room-filling sound, despite its compact dimensions.

The PumpX Ultra-compact Wireless Speakers will be available at Sony Center and major electronic stores across India for a price tag of 7,990 and will be available in Black, White and Red variant.
