Bangalore: With the tablet market increasing day by day Sony decided that along with their three new smartphones they would also release a tablet which was surrounded by rumors from a while. So the announcement of the new tablet Xperia Tablet S doesn’t comes as a surprise. Sony unveiled the tablet at the pre IFA event at Berlin.

The Xperia S tablet is a successor to the company’s last year released Sony Tablet S.

On the looks front the tablet has been modeled on the previous generation model rather than its last year’s predecessor. Though the tablet looks a lot like the previous editions it has shed a lot of weight and has become sleeker and thinner. It measures only 8.8 mm.

The tablet has a 9.4 inch TFT Capacitive Multi-touch display which boasts a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Like the Xperia smartphones even this tablet is water proof. The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The tablet comes in three internal memory variants; 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB along with a slot for as microSD card as well. It also has an 8 mega pixel rear camera with the auto focus feature and a 1 mega pixel front facing camera that allows for video calling. Tablet S would run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The tablet has a Magnesium-Aluminum alloy finish and it weights 570 grams.  What makes this tablet different from the other Sony Tablets is the fact that it is more powerful than its predecessors. All the apps and features on the tablet is backed by a 6000 mAh battery which according to the company would provide the user with at least 10 hours back up.

Sony has added some new features in here as well and one of these is the Sony WALKMAN app. The brand states, “The ‘WALKMAN’ application automatically compiles a list of your Facebook friends’ “liked” songs, as well as related discographies. ClearAudio+ mode always ensures rich, satisfying sound – whatever you’re listening to. The ‘Album’ application lets users view, sort and share pictures and videos captured with their Xperia Tablet across an intuitive user interface. The application can also consolidate users’ photos posted on social media sites like Facebook to allow easy commenting. Video content can be enjoyed with high picture and sound quality using the ‘Movies’ application.” as reported to tech2.com.

Sony fans will not have to wait for too long to get their hands on this slim beauty as the tablet will be available in the markets from September 7, 2012 onwards.
