Six Android Appliances Set To Rule The Kitchen


Bangalore: Android users can now be assured of vast screens, customized widgets and optimum rice cooking! Thinking about Android and cooking?  Be surprised, apart from mobiles, Google is widening its free operating system to rice cookers, refrigerators and other home appliances.

The device would be able to determine the type of rice and set-cooking instructions especially in the case of rice cookers. Besides those, other intelligent systems could signal an alert from a washing machine to the TV, or letting know at what time the process is done.

As per the predictions of The International Data Corporation, the market for Internet-connected devices will reach $2 trillion in 2015, which probably forced Google to respond to the demands. Apart from Android powered products, devices like LG’s Smart ThinQ Refrigerator, which can wirelessly connect and preheat LG’s SmartOven, made an appearance at CES in Las Vegas last week.

Appliance makers including Samsung and Panasonic which operates on Android, has the capability to add their own features to the product. Panasonic already provides cloud-based services for its microwave oven and rice cooker where the users can search for recipes and module instructions regulating their Smartphones.
