Samsung's 4GB RAM To Compliment 64-Bit Processor In Galaxy S5

Bangalore: Just when you thought that 3GB of RAM in your Galaxy Note 3 was something to talk about to your friends, Samsung has come up with world’s first 4GB RAM meant for mobile devices. It is currently the highest RAM configuration for the handheld devices which would complement the upcoming 64 bit processors to be used in smart devices.

On the company’s official Samsung Tomorrow blog, the company told that it has developed industry’s first 8GB (or 1GB) low power double date rate 4(LPDDR4), mobile RAM. The 8GB LPDDR4 is created on 20nm class process technology, and offers 1GB on a single die, which is the largest available density DRAM component at present. The new DDR4 mobile RAM will offer 50 percent higher performance than the present DDR3 chips and will still consume 40 percent less battery. Few other benefits of this chip include faster and better responsive applications with advanced features and higher resolution displays.

According to Samsung, the new 8GB LPDDR4 uses a low voltage swing terminated logic (LVSTL) interface. This chip enables data transfer per pin of up to 3,200 MBPS.
