Samsung Galaxy J3 With 'S Bike Mode' Launched in India


BENGALURU: South Korean multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul–Samsung launched the Galaxy J3 budget phone in India at a price of 8,990. So, do you know  what #TapKickVroom is? If you don’t, here's the answer. This is good news for the riders and bikers in the town since the Galaxy J3 will be geared almost exclusively towards bikers. Blending biking and mobility, this device will inspire and overturn the way users ride–concords the company.

Based on the research by Samsung, the company claims that amidst its customers around 70 per cent are comprised of two wheeler drivers and bikers who want to relish the ideal riding experience–the tension free experience. To make this phenomenon possible, Samsung's research and development team in India has come up with a phenomenal feature–the S Bike Mode. It's a sort of Do Not Disturb feature that prevents unwanted distractions while riding a bike. 

The phone will ship with a specialized NFC tag–Indeed, the S Bike Mode is an NFC-enabled feature that works via a specifically designed NFC sticker/ tag and will handle incoming calls. The functionality is enabled with just a tap of the phone on the tag.

The Bike Mode lets the user to concentrate on the road ahead and not be distracted by incoming calls. The feature when enabled mutes any incoming call and automatically sends a text to the caller to try calling later. Messages can be pre-recorded in as many as 14 Indian languages. If however the call is urgent, the caller can press 1 to get through. The receiver will then get a distinctive tune to know the call is urgent. But he/she won't be able to take the call unless he stops his/her bike thanks to an inbuilt motion lock.

Apart from awesome Bike Mode feature there is more to cherish in Galaxy J3 (2016). The phone comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and 294 ppi pixel density. It is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory which is further expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card. The dualSIM phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based TouchWiz UI and supports 4G LTE connectivity. Apart from 4G–with support for Indian 4G bands, other connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Micro-USB.

It sports an 8-megapixel camera on the rear along with a 5-megapixel camera on the front both with f/2.2 aperture. The phone is backed by a 2,600mAh battery. The smartphone measures 142.3x71x7.9mm and weighs 138 grams.

The Galaxy J3 (2016) will be available in the colours: Gold, Black and White.
