Panasonic Enters the Sub-10,000 Smartphone Category with the Eluga I3

BENGALURU: Looking to grab a foothold in the sub-10,000 smartphone category, Panasonic India has launched the Eluga I3 at a price tag of 9,290. The 4G Volte-enabled Eluga I3 is surely an upgrade from its predecessor Eluga I2 that was launched last year. The new phablet runs on Andorid 5.1 Lollipop customized with Panasonic FitHome user interface.

Eluga I3 comes with a 5 megapixel front camera and a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. At the heart of the device is a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB. Like most sub-10,000 smartphones, the device has a 2700 mAH battery, dual sim card slots, coupled with connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth and GPS. Sensors on the phone include the Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer and Gyroscope.

The phone does not boast any revolutionary element to take on its competitors like the Lenovo K4 Note, LeEco Le 1s, Meizu M3 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. However, the Eluga I3 has a game changing feature in its offline presence which may offer it some headway in the race of the budget smartphones.

"With ELUGA I3, we believe we will surely address some major consumer concerns by providing them with a better viewing experience and more productivity on-the-go," said Pankaj Rana, Business Head (Mobility Division), Panasonic India, in a statement to ET.
