Microsoft Launches New Surface Tablet to Challenge Apple's iPad

Surface Pro 2
Surface Pro 2 is powered a Fourth-generation Intel Core i5-4200U processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, with Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.6 GHz. It has Intel HD Graphics 4400 chip and comes in 64GB and 128GB configurations with 4 GB RAM, as well as 256GB and 512GB configurations with 8 GB RAM. It runs on Windows 8.1 Pro and the device comes with a Stylus called Surface Pen. On the camera front, Pro has 720p HD front and rear-facing cameras. Other features include a Full-size USB 3.0 port, MicroSD card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Keyboard covers
Keyboard covers for both the devices will come at an additional price. Touch Cover 2 costs $120, which has working, printed keyboard on the inside surface and the keys don’t move when pushed. Type Cover 2 costs $130, which has keys that move. Early next year, Microsoft will also be launching a new Power Cover with a built-in spare battery that will cost about $200. Additionally, a $200 docking station will also be launched and will work only with Pro models, including the older one already out.

The one thing that Microsoft’s tablet still doesn’t support is 3G and 4G connectivity which is looked upon as a major drawback as these devices are aimed at enterprise users.
