Microsoft Launches Its First Android Handset, The Nokia X2


BANGALORE: Microsoft has successfully unveiled the Nokia X2, the first Android Smartphone at an affordable price of 99 euros (8100). The handset comes with wide range of exotic features and provisions with makes it exclusively predominant.

The Nokia X2’s Fastlane and the home and back buttons has made navigation quick and easy with its multitasking support.

“The Nokia X family is going from strength to strength, with the Nokia X Smartphone achieving top-selling status in Pakistan, Russia, Kenya and Nigeria, while earning the third-best-selling Smartphone spot in India,” said Timo Toikkanen, head of Mobile Phones, Microsoft Devices Group. “The Nokia X2 elevates the Nokia X experience with a stellar new design, ease of use and new Microsoft experiences. We’re proud to continue to bring Smartphone innovation to lower and lower price points.”

Though identical in appearance to the original Android-based Nokia X, the dual-SIM Nokia X2 stands out for its 4.3-inch (480x800p) WVGA Clear Black display with Scratch resistant glass, 5MP rear camera with auto flash and, a faster 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. The device also packs 4GB of storage, microSD support up to 32GB, Bluetooth 4.0, powered by 1,800-mAh battery. It as well debuts Nokia X Software Platform 2.0.

The device consists of multiple home screens with app shortcuts and tiles, an alphabetical list of apps installed on the device and news feed of sorts called Fast Lane, pulling down social content and more from apps and services installed.

The handset is also preloaded various apps including Skype, Outlook.com, OneDrive, Here Maps and MixRadio, while Bing Search, Yammer and Xbox games are available from the Nokia Store. Users will also be able to install apps from third-party stores.

Nokia X2 weighs 150gram and measures 21.7x68.3x11.1mm. It is available in brightly colored orange, green, yellow, dark gray or white backings.
