Make In India: Oppo and OnePlus New Entrants to the List


BANGALURU: Make in India, which turned one Year recently has grabbed two more companies to set up their manufacturing plant under initiative in the telecom sector. Following the footsteps of Xiaomi, Motorola, and Gionee, Oppo and OnePlus, have unveiled news phone that is manufactured in India.

Oppo Neo 7 is the new phone that is unveiled by the company and is priced 10, 000, as claimed by the company it has second biggest 4G range sales in the China. Now the company is concentrating on producing various models in India, has plans setup a manufacturing plant before 2016, yet to decide on the land accusation and has plans to sell more than 5 lakh smart phones by March 2016. 

Oppo vice General Manager Kai Feng said “In Tamil Nadu, we have sold 40,000 pieces and we are targeting to sell 1.5 lakh smart phones by March 2016. We plan to launch new products ranging from 8, 000 to 20, 000 through multi-brand stores and exclusive showrooms. We have our showrooms in Chennai and Tiruchi. Madurai showroom will be opened soon,” he said.

On the other hand, OnePlus also launched its new model OnePlus X in Onyx and Ceramic edition that is priced 16, 999 and 23, 999, respectively. The phone is exclusively available in Amazon and like other OnePlus models, OnePlus X is available on Invite Only network, further, sales of Onyx edition will begin from November 5 and the limited edition Ceramic will be obtainable for sale, from November 24.

OnePlus General Manager India VikasAgarwal said “Local production will not only make our operations more efficient in terms of cost and working capital requirements but also help us in making our products available for sale much faster than ever before.
