LG Unwraps G Pad, an iPad Rival

Bangalore: Soon after launching a brief video teaser online showcasing its upcoming Tablet, the Korean manufacturer LG officially unveiled G Pad, an 8.3 inch device which will be available in the market from October.

G Pad 8.3 promises to be an 8-inch tablet, with full HD display, a first ever of its kind. The device will have a WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) LCD display screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 at a pixel density 273 ppi, a slightly lower resolution when compared to its competitor, Nexus 7.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 1.7GHz Quad-Core CPU and 2GB RAM is the powerhouse of device, and providing life to the device is a fairly thin (8.3mm), 4,600mAh battery, embedded at its rear side. The rear also has a 5MP primary camera. A 1.3MP front camera sits at the front. Over all, the tablet weighs about 338 grams and said to come in black and white colors respectively.

G Pad 8.3 will be launched with Android 4.2.2 as its Operating System. It will feature Optimus UI, overlaid on its display screen and other new software which LG introduced previously with its G2 Smartphone. One of them is the KnockOn feature, using which users can wake up the G Pad with two light taps on the screen. Another notable software feature is the QSlide multitasking, which allows three apps to run at the same time on the screen. And finally there is the Slide Aside feature, to effectively switch between apps using three-finger swipe.

There is an option to pair LG G2 Smartphone with the upcoming G Pad 8.3 by which users can receive common messages and notifications on either of the devices and can also revert back by “sending simple replies”.

As per recent press release, LG G Pad 8.3 will be officially introduced at IFA next week and will hit the markets in North America, Europe, and Asia starting from October.
