LG To Launch Smartwatch This Year


BANGALORE: The wearable gadget industry is on a random progress with the major market players coming up with their own smart devices. The Korean manufacturer LG announced that it will unveil its debut Smartwatch later this year, reports TOI.   

The big names in the industry such as Sony and Samsung have forged ahead in the segment with the later unveiling their second-generation internet-enabled Smartwatch known as Galaxy Gear 2. Smart gadgets are looking at as the new cash generator by the Smartphone manufacturers as they contain lots of potential in today’s tech savvy world.

"We are working on the development of wearable device... more specifically in the form of a watch," said Park Jong-Seok, CEO of LG Electronics' mobile unit. "We're working hard to put on the table something that other companies have not offered yet," added Park.

The smart watch include facilities that allow you to make and accept calls, send and receive texts and use apps and click snaps. LG has not yet stepped to this new vertical despite being the fourth largest producer of Smartphones.

With the Smartphone industry nearing its saturation in the western and American countries, the new vertical found as a new resource to forge ahead. However, the wearable smart gadget is yet to receive a warm welcome from the public. According to the market research firm Strategic Analytics, the Smartwatch industry is likely to grow over 500 percent in the coming years.
