Is Gionee Making The World's Thinest-Ever Smartphone?

BANGALORE: There were many rumors spreading widely regarding the Apple iPhone models that these phones could be the slimmest Smartphones launched so far in the world. But, this situation seem to change now as the Chinese smartphone maker Gionee appears to be coming up with their new android and world’s thinnest smartphone which is none other than GN9005.

GN9005 reportedly measures 5mm (0.2in) thick; making it the thinnest phone to date, even thinner than Elife S5.5 a smartphone again from the same company. Elife S5.5 is a high-end smartphone offering a premium build and finish, while the Gionee GN9005 sounds like a mid-range with moderate hardware aspects and technical specifications.

This device will have a strictly middling 4.8-inch 720p AMOLED screen, a slow quad-core 1.2GHz processor and a modest 2,050mAh battery. The 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front shooter won't impress, either. Still, Gionee will get to claim some serious bragging rights – at least, so long as it's not upstaged between now and the GN9005's launch. The handset uses China specific TD-LTE connection and bears the China Mobile logo.

While the Elife is tipped to come with a 4.8 inch HD 720p display incorporating a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor of unspecified chipset. The device is claimed to run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS and equip 1 GB of RAM.
