Huawei Launches New VR Headset with 360-degree Sound


BENGALURU: The advent of virtual reality (VR) technology has made way for more innovations. One example is the VR headset that is getting increasingly popular in the tech-savvy community. Almost every Smartphone manufacturer is introducing a VR device in combination with its recently launched Smartphones. Huawei has also jumped into the VR battlefield by introducing its first VR headset in Chinese market with unique 360-degree sound functionality, reports Tech2.

Same as Samsung’s Gear VR, the user must have Huawei Smartphone to enjoy its unveiled VR device. Huawei VR is compatible with its newly launched flagship phones P9 and P9 Plus apart from the Mate 8. The user needs to slide in one of these phones into the VR headset that works as the display and ‘brain’ for the device. Huawei VR has a trackpad, volume keys, and a back button on the side to control volume and other features in sync with the encased phone. In addition to a 95-degree field of view, Huawei has provided adjustable lenses that users can set to accommodate myopia of down to -7.00.

Every VR device released in the market has at least one innovative feature that differentiates it from other VR offerings. Huawei has managed to deliver the same with its first-of-its-kind 360-degree sound technology equipped in its VR product along with the combo of multimedia and entertainment content. According to Engadget, Huawei VR will be pre-stored with 4,000 free movies and 40 games ready to play, along with over 350 panoramic images and more than 150 virtual tours.

At present, Huawei VR is available only for Chinese consumers; the price and exact availability dates are yet to be revealed.
