HTC Unveils Two Windows Phone 8 Smartphones


Bangalore: HTC along with Microsoft launched its first Windows Phone 8 operating system running smartphones – the HTC 8X and HTC 8S. These two smartphones feature the new Windows Phone 8 operating system and boast iconic design, studio-quality sound with Beats Audio and incredible camera capabilities.

Both smartphones will be available by November in over 50 countries globally. The new devices will be marketed as the ‘Signature’ Windows Phone 8 smartphone said Jason Mackenzie, HTC global head of sales, at the launch event in New York.

HTC Windows Phone 8X

The smartphone is powered with Qualcomm S4 Dual-core processor at a clock speed of 1.5 GHz (same processor speed as in the Nokia Lumia 920), paired with 1 GB of RAM and comes with an internal memory of 16 GB with an microSD card slot for expanding storage space.

It comes with a 4.3 inch super LCD 2 touchscreen with 720p HD resolution with Gorilla Glass 2 screen protection. It features an 8 mega pixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera also records videos at 1080p. The smartphone also has an impressive 2.1 mega pixel front facing camera which also records 1080p videos. The company promises an ultra-wide-angle on front camera for bigger picture.

HTC Windows Phone 8S

The 8S is a smaller version of 8X, it is powered with Qualcomm S4 dual core processor at a clock speed of 1 GHz, paired with 512 MB of RAM and also comes with 16 GB of internal storage space and a microSD card slot for expanding memory.

As said, it is a smaller version and comes with 4 inch super LCD touch screen with WVGA resolution along with Gorilla Glass scratch protection. It comes with 5 mega pixel camera at the back with LED flash, video recording in 720p and no front facing camera.

HTC has not disclosed any details regarding its price and availability for the Indian market. But they have said that the devices will be available in more than 50 countries beginning in November. Hope India is among that 50.
