Google Gifts A Colorful Doodle For Holi

BANGALORE: Google complemented Holi celebrations in the country with a colorful doodle. The art work from the search engine giant features a water gun splashing color over the Google logo. The doodle appears very plain with no embedded videos or interactive animation. The homepage looks cheerful with the doodle sporting a mixture of blue, pink, green and yellow color shades.

The carnival of colors is generally celebrated at the onset of the spring season marking the end of the chilly winter. Victory of the good over evil is the theme of the festival. A bonfire is lit on the festive eve and the entire family gathers together making mirth and splashing color water and powder.

According to Hindu mythology, the festival is celebrated as a remembrance of lord Krishna coloring the face of Radha, his lover. The myth explains that Krishna being depressed of his dark color complexion was granted permission to smear the face of Radha with all colors that he likes.

Google had taken part in the festive celebration with doodles in the year of 2001, 2010 and 2011 prior to the current one. Earlier this year, the internet giant had come up with interactive doodles on International Women’s day and Republic day.
