BENGALURU: With numerous Chinese smart phone brands inflowing into the Indian market, OnePlus by Oppo electronics was one among them to strike the headlines attracting the Indian customers with their innovative technology, strategy and price. The OnePlus devices became a huge success in the smart phone space bringing in a second thought for the buyers among the budget segments.
Earlier the company had an invite system. To get an invitation to a OnePlus device, buyers had to request one from a OnePlus user, or complete community engagement tasks on social media. This strategy was adopted to scale their inventory according to demand and also to avoid the flash sales. At the same time, OnePlus could not just manufacture so many devices and wait for the stock to clear, since the demand was not analyzable initially.
Now as the company has gained enough market space, they plan to remove the invite system so as to attract more sales and let users get a device instantly. The OnePlus 3 will be launched in the virtual reality environment at the OnePlus headquarters in cyberspace. It is a computer generated futuristic environment. Those who are already registered in “The Loop” of OnePlus VR can purchase the OnePlus 3 exclusively for two hours starting at 10:00 PM on June 14 in India.
While the OnePlus one and two had design similarities, according to the rumors, the OnePlus 3 is shaping up to be something pretty special, with a new metal-build design, a big battery, and a powerful processor. Rumors suggest that the device may come with a 2.15GHz quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 screen, a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing one, 64GB of storage. The device can be expected to run on an Android Marshmallow operating system and a 3000mAh battery.
