Finally, Samsung Unveils Flexible Display For Phones


Bangalore: Strengthening the rumors about a flexible display Galaxy S4, Samsung had unveiled a sample phone with a flexible display screen branded “Youm”at the CES expo in Las Vegas. Brian Berkeley, the senior vice president of Samsung Display said, “The device won’t break even if it’s dropped”.  He also said that this “new trend will create a change how people relate with their gadgets; it could develop a new lifestyle possibilities by letting our partners to form an entirely new ecosystem of devices.”  

According to the report  on The Verge, the prototype is not a phone as it lacks a radio, OS , Camera and other features of a phone,  rather in its present form it’s like a touchscreen digital picture frame. OLED technology is being used on the Youm screen and we could see shortly Samsung making Smartphones with an array of rollable, bendable, and foldable displays. Verge report also says that the device comes in white and black with a display of 5-inch screen size having a 720p resolution. It was reported December last year that the Samsung Galaxy S IV would have an infrangible screen. The company has been experimenting with new ideas for some time. The reports also said that plastic bendable OLED’S could hit the market as soon as in Q2.
