Bangalore: When Amazon launched its Kindle tablet with a sub-15,000 price tag it opened lots of eyes. Google had done the same wonder with the announcement of its Asus made Nexus tablet with a budget price tag. Nexus tablet which comes with the refreshed version of Android operating system– the Jelly Bean is besting many of its competitors, the Amazon’s Kindle, Apple iPad, newly launched Microsoft Surface and Barnes & Noble’s Nook Tablet. Google Nexus Tablet

Specifications: Google Nexus Tablet has a 7-inch screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, a front facing 1.2 megapixel camera, weighs just 340 g and promises 9.5 hours of battery life. The tablet come in two models - 8 GB version will cost about 12,000 and the 16 GB one will come for 15,000.

Strength: Nexus tablet, the latest one in the tablet market is much thinner and lighter than all of its counterparts. It is powered by the high-performing 1.3 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, which means it is double powerful than Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s Nook tablet. Its integrated camera and microphone adds special happiness for video chatting. The presence of GPS and NFC technology makes it future oriented. And as it is an open Android tablet running on Android 4.1 (Jellybean) it gives a full access to Google Play Store and moreover this Google’s own device will be the first one to get all the software updates in future.

Weakness: Even though the company promises that the device gives 9.5 hours of battery life, it survives only for about 8 hours with continuous video streaming and that’s a bit less when compared to iPad and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. The lack of expandable memory option is a sad thing and Google has to walk a long way in their entertainment ecosystem when they have to sustain with Apple’s huge iTunes and Amazon’s tremendous content accessing.
